Survey 4 radio ratings results for 2024 from GfK, the official provider of radio ratings for Commercial Radio Australia (CRA), have been released.

In Sydney, KIIS1065 fell to 9.7 from 10.3, while 2GB rose to 14.0 from 13.3. Smoothfm dropped out of double digits, falling to 9.8 from 10.7 in Survey 3. On the breakfast slot, the Kyle & Jackie O Show's share dropped to 14.1 from 14.7, while 2GB's Ben Fordham climbed to 17.0 from 16.6.

In Melbourne, 3AW's share dropped from Survey 3 to 13.7 from 14.4, while GOLD 104.3 saw an incremental rise to 11.0 from 10.8. Smoothfm 91.5 also increased slightly, finishing at 10.5 after Survey 3 saw them register a 10.3 share. The 3AW Breakfast with Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft dropped a percentage point to 18.8 from 19.8 from 18.1, while The Christian O'Connell Show on GOLD 104.3 maintained its double digit share, finishing up at 10.8 in comparison to 10.4 in Survey 3.

ARN chief content officer Duncan Campbell said despite their 25 years on air together, The Kyle & Jackie O Show is still a brand-new show for Melbourne, and ARN is encouraged by these early results.

"In particular, the increase in cume demonstrates that the show is attracting new listeners and as that cume is converted to loyal listening, we’ll see share increasing," he said.

"We know it will take a few more surveys before their presence truly starts to resonate with the Melbourne audience but we’re excited to build on this foundation and are confident that Kyle & Jackie O will continue to capture the hearts of Melbourne listeners just as they have in Sydney.”

Nine Radio’s head of content, Greg Byrnes, said these results show Australians have turned to talk in big numbers.

"As the home of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Nine’s talk stations have laid the foundations for another dominant year in 2024," he said.

“The number one results in Sydney and Melbourne, along with the record cume result in Perth, highlight the strength of our always on, live and local content."

“Talk radio is relentless. what Ray Hadley has achieved today is truly remarkable and he’d be the first to thank his hundreds of thousands of listeners who tune in every day right around the country.”
