Survey 1 radio ratings results from GfK, the official provider of radio ratings for Commercial Radio Australia (CRA), have been released.

In Sydney, KIIS1065 rose from 12.8 to 12.4, while 2GB saw a drop to 11.1 (from 12.6 in Survey 8 in 2022). On the breakfast slot, the Kyle & Jackie O Show was up over a percentage point (15.9 to 14.8) while 2GB's Ben Fordham fell to 14.0 from 15.7.

In Melbourne, 3AW saw a marked increase to 17.1 (from 15.8 in Survey 8 in 2022), while GOLD 104.3 rose to 12.4 from 12.1 and 101.9 FOX FM rose to 10.2 from 9.0. The 3AW Breakfast with Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft remained mostly steady, only dropping to 22.7 from 22.8, while GOLD104.3 and The Christian O’Connell Show saw their share increase to 11.5 from 9.9.

Duncan Campbell, ARN's chief content officer, said: “ARN finished last year on an all-time high, and it’s great to see that momentum carry through into 2023, particularly in the key markets.

"In Sydney we continue to dominate and achieve remarkable results, with The Kyle & Jackie O Show back as #1 overall. They have grown both their share and audience yet again, and their extraordinary numbers, both in today’s survey and yesterday’s podcast ranker report, reflect their ability to engage their audience’s interests better than anyone else.

"It’s also great to see WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda, who have just celebrated an incredible 18 years on air together, as Sydney’s #2FM Breakfast Show, while in Melbourne The Christian O’Connell Show continues unbeaten as the #1FM Breakfast Show for the 22ndconsecutive survey. These results highlight a team very much connected with their audience.”

Greg Byrnes, Nine Radio’s head of content, said: "At a time when radio has never been more competitive, our audiences are getting bigger.

"These are stunning results in Melbourne, right across the week and into the weekend. In Sydney, Ray has extended his record of number ones even further, and around the country our refreshed lineups are building new audiences. It’ll be a big year and we’re up to the challenge.”
