Survey 5 radio ratings results for 2024 from GfK, the official provider of radio ratings for Commercial Radio Australia (CRA), have been released.

In Sydney, KIIS1065 rose to 10.9 from 9.7, while 2GB dropped to 13.3 from 14.0. On the breakfast slot, the Kyle & Jackie O Show's share saw an incredmental gain to 14.3 from 14.1, while 2GB's Ben Fordham saw a notable drop to 15.6 from 17.0.

In Melbourne, 3AW's share climbed from Survey 4 to 14.7 from 13.7, while GOLD 104.3 fell to 10.3 from 11.0. Smoothfm 91.5 also dropped slightly, finishing at 10.2 after Survey 3 saw them register a 10.5 share. The 3AW Breakfast with Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft increased 2.5 percentage points to 21.3 from 18.8, while The Christian O'Connell Show on GOLD 104.3 dropped below double digits, finishing up at 8.3 in comparison to 10.8 in Survey 4.

ARN's chief content officer, Duncan Campbell, said Kyle & Jackie O continue to prove why they’re recognised as one of the best breakfast shows in the world, attracting over 1.24 million listeners each week, achieving their 45th consecutive survey at #1 in Sydney and showing promising growth in Melbourne.

"Their rise in share in Melbourne is what we anticipated and reflects what we are seeing in our internal tracking. As we’ve said before, building momentum in new markets requires time, and we remain confident in our long-term growth strategy," he said.

Nine Radio’s head of content, Greg Byrnes, said these results show that in Australia's most competitive radio markets, listeners are locked on to Nine's talk stations for the trusted news, information and insight it delivers each day.

“At 2GB and 3AW, the Breakfast and Morning programs are again clear number one. In Sydney and Melbourne we've dominated the ratings all year and that's been reinforced even further today," he said.

“The Paris Olympics coverage played a part in this survey, and we are extremely proud of how our radio team delivered. It's great to see our loyal listeners tuned in to us for the duration of what was an historic Games for Australia.”

NOVA Entertainment CEO Peter Charlton said the network is thrilled that NOVA Entertainment has not only retained the highest total audience of any metro network with 6.3 million Australians but that the Nova network also continues to attract more Breakfast listeners across the country.

"Our hardworking teams, including Melbourne's newest #1 FM Breakfast show Jase & Lauren, continue to deliver an incredible product that ensures more Australians wake up to Nova," he said,

"As the advertising market looks to recover in the second half of this year and into 2025, we find ourselves in a great position to provide our commercial partners with significant, stable audiences across audio that give advertisers the ability to reach more of their customers more of the time."
