Foxtel has created a new role to bolster its marketing department, appointing former Vodafone CMO and NBN marketing manager John Casey as group director, marketing, AdNews can reveal.

Casey joins from V8 Supercars where he held a similar role and will now oversee marketing duties across entertainment, sports, product, brand and retail marketing.

AdNews understands that Casey will step into the role 22 March and will report chief sales and marketing officer Kieren Cooney. Casey had previously worked with Cooney during his time with the NBN.

This latest appointment follows news of multiple departures from the Foxtel commercial and marketing teams over the last six months.

The most recent, long-time general manager of advertising sales and brand partnerships, Andrew Mulready, exited after 10 years with the business.

He followed CMO Andy Lark's departure in October and Foxtel's head of sport marketer Adam Ballesty's resigation last month. Lark had been at the pay TV business for 10 months and Ballesty six months.
