EssenceMediacom's GM for Sydney role has been made redundant amid changes to the agency's structure since its merger last year.

Adele Burke most recently held the position; she was at the GroupM-owned agency for 13 years and promoted to GM in 2021.

Prior to this, she was a client director overseeing some of the agency’s biggest accounts at the time including KFC, Richemont and Hasbro.

EssenceMediacom launched in January 2023, creating one of the largest agencies in Australia with more than 550 people and close to $1 billion in billings at the time, according to COMvergence.

Over the past six months, the media agency has retained the Queensland government's media account; seen chief client officer Nick Thomas depart for Amazon Ads; created a specialist data, technology and analytics division; retained technology company Mable; and appointed Alex Williams head of planning for its Sydney agency.

EssenceMediacom has a client portfolio including Commonwealth Bank, Isuzu, Myer and nib in Australia.
