By AdNews | 3 March 2025
AdNews is set to recognise the trailblazers driving positive change in media, marketing and advertising.

'Champions Of Change' has launched as a stand-alone award program celebrating the people, policies and programs shaping a more diverse and inclusive adland.

The program includes categories for individuals and agencies and will be judged by a client-side panel. Entries for the awards will close on April 11 with a cocktail ceremony to recognise winners in Sydney on June 19, 2025. Enter here and be recognised as a force for good in advertising.

According to a report by AdNews, progressive Australian workplaces are holding strong against the US in dismantling diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

US President Donald Trump has signed a raft of executive orders to end DEI programs, which were originally created to ensure fairer representation for marginalised and minority groups.

As part our AdNews' report, Media Federation of Australia (MFA) revealed plans to keep DEI at the forefront. Linda Wong, director of people at the MFA, said members are committed to “ensuring meaningful progress continues across our industry”.

“We believe that fostering an inclusive workplace isn’t just the right thing to do – it’s a business imperative that drives creativity, innovation and better outcomes for all.

“But real change requires collective action. That’s why we work hand in hand with our members to embed DEI into every facet of our industry – from people and culture to supply chains and the communications we produce. Together, we are shaping a more inclusive and equitable future.”

The Advertising Council Australia (ACA) also told AdNews it was committed to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion.

“Our DEI efforts are driven by initiatives that promote representation, inclusivity, and equal opportunities industry-wide,” an ACA spokesperson said as part of the report. “Key programs include the Create Space Census and Action Plan and the annual Industry Salary Survey.

"These initiatives measure and address critical DEI metrics, helping agencies attract and retain top talent, ensure organisational diversity, increase female representation in executive and C-suite roles, establish fair pay standards, and close the gender pay gap.”

Champions of Change is open to all operators in the media, marketing and advertising community.
