Independent Creative Agency Emotive is expanding, following a series of business wins, with the appointment of James Pash, Katrina Maw and Ciaran Miller-Stubbs.
CEO Simon Joyce says the announcement is one of the best moments of 2020.
"If you said to me in April, when lockdown was kicking off and millions of dollars of work was cancelled, that we would end the year with the largest team we have ever had, I would have said you are bonkers," he says.
"As we head into 2021, there is a wonderful sense of creativity and momentum right through the business, and I know Katrina, James and Ciaran will further that.”
Pash joins Emotive as creative director from Rothco, Ireland, where his work was awarded at D&AD, D&AD Impact, Cannes, the Clios, and The One Show.
More locally, his agency experience includes BMF, Leo Burnett Sydney, and TBWA Sydney, creating award-winning work for Virgin Mobile (Data Auction), Toohey’s Extra Dry (Portals), ommonwealth Bank (Everyday Settlement), Lion Beer (XXXX Island), The Athlete’s Foot (Find Your Fit), and GIO Insurance (Fuel The Fire).
“After a really enjoyable four years in Ireland with Rothco, it was time to come home and get some heat back in my bones," says Pash.
"Chatting to Simon (Joyce) and (Michael) Hoggy, it was clear Emotive has enjoyed a remarkable 2020, despite everything, and have even bigger ambitions for what comes next.
"That sense of momentum, their independence, a growing team, and a great set of clients made joining a very easy decision. Working two minutes from Tamarama beach pushed it firmly into no-brainer territory.”
Katrina Maw joins Emotive as EP with more than 18 years of local and international industry experience, working in both production companies and agencies including Droga5, TBWA, Host, Leo Burnett and most recently at Clemenger BBDO.
She has collaborated on many memorable and award-winning campaigns, including Masterfoods Make Dinnertime Matter, V Energy Rapper and Ford's Live the Ranger Life.
“It was an easy decision to make the move over to Emotive," she says.
"I have admired their production approach over the years - a high quality production company working in parallel with an innovative creative agency. I am super excited to be part of the Emotive team creating epic campaigns with some great brands.”
Ciaran Miller-Stubbs joins Emotive as business director from his most recent role as group account director at The Monkeys, where he led Beam Suntory, Meat and Livestock Australia, and Australian Vintage.
His career also includes stints at Saatchi & Saatchi London and BMF Sydney.
“I’m stoked to have joined the crew at Emotive. In a turbulent year, they’ve gone from strength to strength and with a lot of momentum, big plans, and possibly the best office location in Sydney, I’m really excited to get stuck in and play my part," he says.
James Pash starts January 18. The other two are already at Emotive’s Tamarama office.
