Elon Musk speaks to Twitter advertisers

Twitter owner, and self-appointed chief twit, Elon Musk, has gone on his company's Spaces platform to speak to advertisers.

Major advertisers, and their media agencies, have paused spending on the social media platform while they wait to see what it means to have the world's richest man running Twitter.

The billionaire has sacked half Twitter's staff since taking control in a $US44 billion takeover.

"People should consider Twitter to be a good thing in the world," Musk said

"We want to be in vigorous pursuit of the truth."

Musk told more than 100,000 listeners:  "I understand if people want to give it a minute" but "the best way to see how things are evolving is just use Twitter".

And: "Twitter must be as a platform as neutral as possible. That doesn't mean I'm completely neutral."

However, Twitter would aggressively suspend accounts that "engaged in trickery" or deception and would limit visibility of hateful content.

Musk later tweeted: "Usage of Twitter continues to rise. One thing is for sure: it isn’t boring!"
