Survey 8 radio ratings results for 2024 from GfK, the official provider of radio ratings for Commercial Radio Australia (CRA), have been released.

In Sydney, KIIS1065 rose back to double digits, inching ever so slightly upwards to 10.0 from 9.9, while 2GB climbed two points to 11.8 from 9.8. WSFM dropped to 9.6 from 10.7 in Survey 7. Smoothfm 95.3 was the winner for Survey 8, finishing with a 12.3 share, up from 10.3. On the breakfast slot, the Kyle & Jackie O Show's share saw a slight gain to 13.5 from 13.1, while 2GB's Ben Fordham saw a big increase to 15.1 from 12.3. WSFM's Jonesy & Amanda dropped to 10.5 from 11.3, while Smoothfm95.3's More Music Breakfast Show cracked double digits, finishing with a 10.0 share, up from 8.3 in Survey 7.

In Melbourne, 3AW's share continued its fall to 13.6 from 14.0, while GOLD 104.3's share was steady once again at 10.2 from 10.0. Smoothfm 91.5 saw growth to match its Sydney counterpart, netting an 11.4 share compared to 10.9 in Survey 7, while fellow NOVA Entertainment network station NOVA 100 climbed to 10.0 from 9.0. The 3AW Breakfast with Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft dropped to 19.3 from 20.0, while 101.9 FOX FM's Fifi, Fev & Nick fell out of the double digits to 9.4 from 10.2.  NOVA 100's Jase & Lauren saw a slight gains, with a 11.5 share in Survey 8 compared to a 11.0 share in Survey 7.

NOVA Entertainment CEO Peter Charlton said he is incredibly proud of the teams across the country.

"We have rounded out 2024 with the most listeners of any metro network in every survey this year, including Survey 8 where 6.4 million Australians tuned in," he said.

"To have the top three most listened to stations in the country with Nova 100, Smooth FM 95.3 and Smooth 91.5 respectively, is an astounding achievement and a testament to the loyal and growing relationships we foster with our listeners.

"We look ahead to 2025 with excitement and optimism as we continue to innovate on our All of Audio offering, providing market-leading audiences and commercial opportunities.”

Nine Radio’s head of content, Greg Byrnes, said the company finished the year like it started.

"With the clear number one Breakfast and Morning shows in Sydney and Melbourne!” he said.

“3AW has a unique relationship with the city of Melbourne and we thank listeners for embracing our new lineup in 2024 and making the station so strong. The market has never been tougher in Sydney but 2GB has recorded big audience increases right across the day and is the clear number one on weekdays.

“I'm also really pleased for the team at 6PR where we’ve had impressive gains and Millsy and Karl are now number two in Breakfast. However, for Nine Radio this week it’s all about Ray Hadley, who will be ending his career on a high when he switches off his mic for the final time tomorrow.”

SCA’s chief content officer, Dave Cameron, said SCA is celebrating outstanding results, with B105 marking a year of undefeated leadership followed closely by Triple M to deliver an incredible duopoly result in Brisbane.

"B105's Stav, Abby & Matt have dominated Brisbane Breakfast, having also spent all of 2024 on top," he said.

“We're excited to see Triple M return as Adelaide's Number one station, powered by Roo, Ditts & Loz with an extraordinary run of success - 18 consecutive breakfast wins.

“In Melbourne, The Fox's Fifi Fev and Nick have concluded an amazingly consistent and strong 2024, finishing the year as the Number two breakfast show. In what has been a year where Melbourne listeners have rejected interstate blow-ins and screamed that local shows with local content, from locally loved teams like Fifi, Fev & Nick, are what they want. While Triple M's JB & Billy have achieved the highest Drive result since 2006, which puts them in a great position to extend their show to SA and WA next year.

“It's a pleasing day to see a strong final result from Triple M Sydney's Mick & MG, ahead of Mick’s return to Melbourne to take up the challenge of delivering even more locally loved content at breakfast on Triple M.

“This year has shown that breakfast localism is everything to listeners. In 2025 we will remain steadfast in our approach to continuing to deliver local Breakfast shows in all of our metro markets, which includes building six brand new breakfast shows focusing on local content for our 25-54 'audience that matters' - a position SCA has again dominated over our competitors.”
