Online marketplace eBay has named American Express marketer Julie Nestor as CMO.
The move follows Tim MacKinnon's promotion from CMO to managing director last year.
Nestor has more than 20 years of marketing experience in Australia and Hong Kong and in her role as CMO she will be focused on loyalty, personalisation and partnerships.
“Julie brings a wealth of experience in consumer marketing, loyalty, payments and in partnering with Australian retailers," MacKinnon says.
Nestor has worked at American Express for the last 13 years, and before that, held roles at Optus.
“My role at American Express has given me an understanding of data, online and what merchants need to grow their sales,” Nestor says.
“Retail, especially online, is in an extremely dynamic period and I’m looking forward to working closely with the eBay leadership team to help 40,000 Australian retailers to grow their businesses.”
eBay launched a bold anti-Amazon stance in September last year, marking its first work from creative agency 72andSunny.
“There’s never been a more exciting time in Australian retail for businesses and consumers alike,” MacKinnon says.
“For over 18 years, eBay has been focused on providing the 40,000 local businesses and 11.8-million monthly Australian shoppers on the platform with the best experience possible. Under Julie’s leadership, we can expect to see eBay.com.au continue to grow and innovate.”
