Independent creative agency Five by Five Global has appointed Nigel Powell to the newly-created role of business manager.

Powell, who is 68, hasn’t worked in an agency but was record executive and promoter Michael Gudinski’s right-hand man for several decades.

Five by Five Global managing director Matt Lawton said the agency is providing a diverse and inclusive workplace.

“A desire to provide a diverse and inclusive workplace is a conscious choice. Every person, regardless of their age, cultural background, disability, gender, sexual orientation and socio-economic background deserves to feel like they belong in their workplace and be valued for their thinking and contribution,” says Lawton.

“This sense of belonging will result in a stronger business, a better workplace and ultimately better work for our clients.”

Powell takes on the role of business manager bringing exceptional organisational and project management skills to the agency, garnered from four decades on the road with mega music acts including The Eagles, Lionel Richie, Bryan Adams, Kylie Minogue and even touring Yothu Yindi through the Arctic.

Five by Five Global has also hired Tiffany Gozal as designer, Dan Craig as art director and Charlie Dejean as copywriter to manage a sustained period of growth.

Lawton says he is excited to welcome such a diverse and talented cohort to the team:

“Charlie will join our newly-promoted art director Taylor as true young guns having both achieved Top 10 at this year’s AWARD School, I can’t wait to see the ideas that stem from this talented duo. Dan Craig joins from DDB as an art director and this is Tiffany’s first full time role in Australia so her young and enthusiastic nature adds to the breadth of diverse talent we already have in the office.”

The appointments of Powell, Gozal, Craig and Dejean are effective immediately.
