Danny Bass, a former CEO of IPG Mediabrands and current chairman of social purpose body UnLtd, has been appointed director, business solutions, for Australia and New Zealand at Snap.

He will be based in Sydney and report to Kathryn Carter, who has been promoted to general manager, APAC.

Bass says it’s an exciting time to be joining Snap.

“I am very happy to be joining the team at Snap at such an exciting time," he says. "I am looking forward to building on the great work done by Kathryn and the team as well as supporting her in her new regional role.”

The company wants to build out its team in the wider APAC region including key roles in content and carrier partnerships, marketing, recruitment, sales, communications and operations teams across Singapore, Korea, Japan and India.

Carter says the appointment will support regional expansion.

“We’ve been hard at work the last five years helping the market to understand what makes Snap different and unpack the unrivalled potential Snapchat holds for advertisers and partners. We are excited by the momentum behind our business and the opportunity to expand across the region.”

Bass will lead revenue in Australia and New Zealand, working closely with advertisers, helping them to best leverage Snapchat to grow their business and reach Gen Z audiences.

He brings more than 20 years’ experience in the digital space and has held senior roles at News Corp Australia and GroupM as well as IPG Mediabrands.

Carter says the team is looking forward to welcoming Bass.

“Throughout his career, he has demonstrated his ability to successfully transform teams and businesses," she says. "He brings a wealth of expertise, experience and leadership skills, which are aligned with Snap’s values of being kind, smart and creative."
