Crown Resorts Group media account up for pitch, AdNews reveals.

A number of agencies have been invited to pitch including Initiative, which unveiled a new brand platform for the Group last month, AdNews understands.

And the incumbent dentsu media agency Carat - which has held the account still the casino giant's launch in 1994, most recently working out of Carat Perth for eight years - will not be repitching for the account, a dentsu spokesperson confirmed.

“After a long and wonderful tenure working with Crown Resorts, dentsu has resigned the Crown Resorts media account," the spokesperson said.

"We wish Crown and the team the very best in the future and thank them for many years of partnership.”

A Crown Resorts spokesperson confirmed a number of agencies have been invited to pitch.

"Crown is reviewing its current media planning and buying arrangements," the spokesperson told AdNews.

"A number of agencies have been invited to be part of this process and we expect an outcome of the review will be made by the end of this year."

Adam Ballesty

Crown Resorts appointed former Domino's CMO Adam Ballesty group EGM brand and marketing seven months ago.

The company unveiled a new brand platform for the first time in nearly a decade with media agency Initiative and creative agency The Monkeys last month.

The campaign, 'Here’s Where Things Get Interesting', centres around 'creating joyfully elevated experiences for the communities in which Crown operates and is a playful spin on Crown’s long held reputation as the home of all things interesting – entertainment, awards nights, celebrity sightings, weddings, gala events, birthdays, TV broadcasts, and just about everything in between'.

In 2019, an investigation was launched into the casino’s links to organised crime and money laundering.

In July, the Federal Court ordered the gambling giant to pay $450 million (the third-largest corporate fine in Australian history) for at least 546 breaches of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing laws between 2016 and 2022.
