Cricket takes a bite on Apple

Cricket Australia will be putting a channel on Apple TV, with the cricket.com.au app featuring a library of cricket content in high definition.

The app is available immediately, and will feature access to news and features, including highlights from every day of international cricket played on Australia soil this summer.

It will also feature original content and archival footage from it library, and it will all be available for free.

The app is the result of a digital partnership between Nine and Cricket Australia, and it is perhaps surprising the app did not make its way onto the Freeview Plus hbbTV platform launched last year, given Nine was a launch partner for the service.

Apple TV generated more than $1 billion in revenue in 2013.
