Industry figures are leading the way in getting vaccinated against COVID-19, many of them announcing the occasion of double vax via social media. AdNews asked them about their motivation and experiences.
Jo Lilley, Managing Director, Houston Group
Fully vaxxed. To me it feels like a badge of honour. I know I’ve been lucky. I got my jabs at my local GP practice and before I had even left the surgery my Medicare verification had come through. I quickly downloaded that little green card into my wallet, knowing this was the first step to seeing my family in the UK.
I love the latest Qantas ad. For me it perfectly expresses my reason to get vaxxed. Being separated from family and friends has been tough. Especially because they still haven’t met my little boy. Those first few months are so precious. He’s not a baby anymore and I feel both sad and guilty that we haven’t shared (in real life anyway) any of those ‘firsts’ with our family.
The process for me was seamless and although I had an easy option with my GP, I know the Homebush experience is also impressive. The needle was painless and apart from a dead arm and being tired, I had no other symptoms.
If 80% is the goal, then let’s bloody do this! Feeling out of control on so many levels, for me this is one small thing I can do to impact change. We have the control to make the target and get out of this hole. There are appointments available – we all just need to get on and do it.
