Commonwealth Games reach close to 5 million on Saturday

The 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games has begun with a bang for Seven, with the games reaching 4.8 million people on Saturday and 6.3 million in total through the first two days of competition

The strong response saw Seven Network and Channel 7 both finish Saturday night #1 in total people, as well as #1 for the key demos of 25 to 54s and 16 to 39s. The Games were the #1 non-news program in 25 to 54s and the #1 program in 16 to 39s.

For the Seven Network, audience is up 68% week-on-week in total people, up 66% in 25 to 54s and up 68% in 16 to 39s. For Channel 7 specifically, audience is up 83% week-on-week in total people, up 74% in 25 to 54s and up 83% in 16 to 39s.

On the live streaming front, the Birmingham 2022 audience is up 132% versus the same day for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018.

7plus finished Saturday night #1 in BVOD, #1 in live streaming, up 133% week-on-week and up 267% in total. 36.3 million Commonwealth Games minutes were streamed on Saturday, with 61.5 million minutes streamed in total.

Australia is currently leading the pack with 52 medals in total – 22 gold, 13 silver and 17 bronze.
