Clemenger BBDO has been named the winner of the Amazon Alexa World Cup, beating global agencies including Publicis and Say It Now.
Its winning work was an Alexa Skill for Beyond Blue that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to provide connection and support to those experiencing anxiety conditions in the community.
The win was announced at the VOICE 19 Conference in Newark, New Jersey.
The announcement follows the agency’s wins at the Australian and New Zealand round and the Asia Pacific round, where it was up against finalists from Japan and India.
“We’re thrilled to have won this global competition, it’s a credit to the team that identified a human need and leveraged their insight to know that voice could help provide a solution,” Clemenger BBDO Melbourne chief operating officer, Ben Kidney, says.
“This is further proof that creativity is always the answer, regardless of the medium or technology, and that as an agency, the capability we’ve built is perfectly placed to lead our clients through a new age in customer engagement and computing.”
The agency has also used its voice capabilities to build on the success of the controversial, yet highly-awarded Deadly Questions campaign.
It has created a Skill that acts as an "immersive extension" to the campaign, allowing people to join in the discussion to learn more about issues experienced by the Aboriginal community by both asking questions and exploring content.
