Choice attacks Government over piracy policy

Choice is lobbying the Government over the way it handles piracy with a petition and online ad campaign that mocks its "foolproof, 100% effective plan".

The video, featuring a fake Minister, asks the Government to “work smarter, not harder” to tackle illegal downloading in Australia by making legal access to content easier and more affordable - not holding ISPs accountable for piracy.

It says as Australians pay more than other countries for digital content, making pricing more competitive for legally accessed content would be a better way to reduce illegal downloading than a crackdown and policies like an “internet filter” that it says will “penalise” all Australians by making the internet more expensive.

Choice is aiming for 5000 signatures on the online petition. It currently has around 120.
