Carat has retained the $40 million-plus L'Oreal media account in a competitive pitch that also involved Zenith and GroupM's new agency Wavemaker, AdNews can reveal.
L'Oreal is the leading cosmetics group in Australia. It's stable of brands includes L’Oreal Paris, Maybelline, Garnier, Lancôme, YSL, Georgio Armani and Viktor & Rolf.
The media business includes buying, planning and strategy, and has been expanded to include search and performance. The new contract also covers the New Zealand market.
Carat first won the L'Oreal media business from UM in 2013.
Carat Melbourne managing director Joseph Pardillo tells AdNews the contract extension is a full consolidation of L'Oreal's communications across all paid, owned and earned media and digital.
“What this means is that we're going to be bolstering our digital, data and analytics capability in line with their data journey and e-commerce plans,” Pardillo says.
“We've got a very strong foundation and operational team and infrastructure already servicing business. This is a great win for the team and all of their hard work.”
