Creative consultancy Campfire x has launched an Indigenous talent service.

This move will connect artists, actors, musicians, models and digital creators with opportunities that are culturally safe and empowering.

Campfire x co-founder and Indigenous creative Peter Kirk said the team decided to expand its offerings after receiving a number of requests to be more active in this space.

“We have had a hand in working with Indigenous talent on some of the biggest shows on TV,” he told AdNews

“On a regular basis we would get asked to add advice and insight on Indigenous talent and casting.

“We have been doing this role informally now for quite a while, so we thought now is as good as any time to formalise it.”

Campfire x has produced creative work for global companies, including Ray-Ban, Google, Meta, Tourism Australia, Nandos and the NRL.

The consultancy aims to ensure that Indigenous representation in campaigns is both authentic and impactful.

Kirk believes the media, marketing and advertising industry is crying out for more diversity in general.

“I think there is a real desire from both the general public and the production houses to cast not just Indigenous talent but more diverse talent in general,” he said.

“From an Indigenous point of view, there is definitely a gap there between production houses and the talent and pathways.

“Not only will we source Indigenous talent for the required role, we will also work with the production houses to de-risk the environment and help manage the transition into the role with ongoing support.”

Indigenous consultant Jodi Shannon, who has been working with Campfire x for more than a year, will be managing the talent service.

The consultancy has also added Sydney-based breakdancer and music producer Mark Munk Ross to its growing roster.

Kirk said Campfire x aims to celebrate Indigenous talent through its platform.

“We do work with some large production houses and streaming platforms now, where possible we will be looking to partner with them,” he said.

“We want to spread the word and showcase some wonderful untapped talent in this country.”

Campfire x hopes to build a diverse network of creatives with various specialties and welcomes conversations with anyone interested in casting, hiring or engaging Indigenous talent.
