Fresh from its win of the Santos Tour Down Under account, BWM is in Adelaide and on the lookout for clients as it seeks to build its South Australian book.
Late last week it emerged that BWM had won the bicycle classic account from George Patterson Y&R Melbourne, and instead of the account being run out of its existing Melbourne base, BWM took the decision to bite the bullet and pile into the Adelaide market.
"We were thinking about opening up in Adelaide for a little while, and we saw this as a way to get that expansion happening," BWM Melbourne managing director Mark Watkin told AdNews.
"It's an interesting market to us."
He said while BWM was not yet in any pitches for business in the Adelaide market, that it did have its feelers out.
"We're not in anything formal, but we are having discussions with some people at the moment."
BWM has leased office space for the move, but said it would work closely with the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) on its Tour Down Under work.
"A lot of the Tour Down Under stuff is tied up with the SATC as they use the event to promote the state, so we'll be working closely with them on the work," Watkin said.
"However, that will only be in peak times, and we'll have our own office there."
It is believed that while BWM was given the nod as the agency of choice late last year, the contracts were only signed in the new year.
