Westpac has appointed BMF strategic brand and creative agency.

The news comes one month after AdNews revealed that the creative pitch process was moving into a new phase, described as a restart by insiders.

The big four bank put its creative account on review in September, incumbent DDB shortly after publicly announced its 13-year partnership with Westpac was ending.

In November, the pitch was understood to be down to a final three including Accenture's The Monkeys, Publicis Groupe's Saatchi & Saatchi and VML.

The big four bank said BMF was selected for exceptional strategic thinking and creativity.

Westpac Group executive customer and corporate services Carolyn McCann said the brand is thrilled to welcome BMF to the Westpac family.

"Their innovative approach and proven track record in delivering impactful campaigns for clients aligns perfectly with our vision for the future. We look forward to collaborating with BMF to elevate our brand and engage with our customers in new and exciting ways," McCann said.

“We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to DDB for their 13 years of partnership and invaluable contribution to our brand."

BMF CEO Stephen McArdle said the agency was incredibly excited to be working with Westpac, bringing strategic and creative expertise to life for one of Australia’s most iconic brands and companies.

"We can’t wait to work in partnership with the Westpac team to realise their ambitions around customer engagement and growth," McArdle said.
