DDB has hired Ben Welsh from M&C Saatchi to fill the role of chief creative officer of its Sydney office.
Welsh had been a long-serving executive creative director of the office before being promoted to creative chairman of Asia in September of last year. He had been with M&C Saatchi Sydney for 18 years, before that working for DDB and McCann.
Welsh fills the hole in the DDB Sydney leadership team left by Toby Talbot, who announced his departure from the agency this week.
DDB Group Australia CEO Andrew Little says Welsh is the right fit for the agency.
"Ben is such a great person and the perfect creative leader for our agency as we look to continue our creative trajectory.
"I know our Exec Team and Creative Partners are excited to have him on board and I have every confidence that under Ben's leadership, our agency will continue to deliver world-class work across the portfolio of fantastic brands we have within the building."
Welsh says: "Some of the best people I've ever worked with are at DDB Group Sydney. It's a standout office, in one of the world's great networks, and the time is right for me to return to DDB. Toby has done a brilliant job during his tenure and I look forward to building on that. He has assembled a team brimming with talent, who I can't wait to work with."
Welsh will start his new role on 1 August.
