Former Ansible global president Travis Johnson has resurfaced at Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN) several months after exiting the IPG Mediabrands' New York agency.
He takes on the new role of president of commerce at the network, reporting to CEO Nick Brien.
Back in September, Johnson was one of the many Aussie expats culled from IPG Mediabrands following the shock departure of Mediabrands’ global CEO Henry Tajer.
Johnson was part of Tajer's original "brain drain", which saw a group of Australian IPG staffers airlifted into New York, including Johnson, John Sintras, Mat Baxter, Di Richardson, Cadreon boss Marc Lomas and audit specialist Charles Godbold.
Announcing his next move on LinkedIn, Johnson writes: "It’s was quite a ride and I’m lucky to have worked with some of the best leaders (Henry Tajer, Reg Davidson, Chris Loll), clients, media and dev/creative talent, and advertising and technology companies in the industry.
"I’ve joined Dentsu Aegis Network and am creating a brand new capability/practice within the most innovative, acquisitive, inquisitive and entrepreneurial network in the US."
He adds that the "full details" of his new venture will be revealed in the coming weeks.
During his time at IPG Mediabrands, Johnson led Ansible and the IPG Media Lab in the US, also holding roles at Initiative, Cadreon and UM in Australia.
