Australian Radio Network (ARN) has locked in WSFM's hit breakfast hosts Jonesy and Amanda for three more years in a deal thought to be worth $6m.

2014 marks the ninth year Brendan 'Jonesy' Jones and Amanda Keller have been on the air together, currently occupying the top FM breakfast spot with their show, Jonesy and Amanda in the Morning.

The news also follows a strong performance in the last GfK radio ratings, which saw the duo edge ahead of rival Kiis presenters Kyle and Jackie O, taking 9.9% of the audience and the number one FM spot in the Sydney market. WSFM have taken the top FM spot in four out of the six 2014 ratings surveys.

In April ARN rebranded WSFM and its GOLD stations in Melbourne to bolster its offering to the Gen X demographic.

The launch of the Pure Gold Network included an on-air and outdoor advertising push, as well as digital and TV campaigns.

ARN's national content director Duncan Campbell said Jonesy and Amanda are a crucial part of the network's success. “At ARN this year we are focused on investing in our talent and ensuring that we create the best possible content and entertainment for our audiences. Jonesy & Amanda are loved by their extremely loyal audience and they are looking forward to taking their show to another level next year in what will be their 10th year together," he said.

Speaking to AdNews last month Campbell said ARN's investment in marketing would continue into 2015 but with a renewed focus on Melbourne. He also said investment in music will remain a core focus for next year.

“People don't talk about the music so much. The talent is important but music is fundamental," Campbell added.

Regarding the marketing strategy going forward, ARN national marketing director Anthony Xydis told AdNews: "The Pure Gold Network is a key network offering for advertisers targeting the Gen X audience and works alongside the KIIS + MIX network... We’re building out the strategy so expect to see more from the music and breakfast shows . It is a key pillar in ARN’s digital strateg."
