HT&E has sold its sports platform The Roar to Influencer and media platform AthletesVoice.

The financials of the deal haven't been announced.

The move reinforces HT&E's focus on audio through its broadcast business ARN which has ownership or investments in 12 radio stations plus digital entertainment platform iHeartRadio with 1.3 million registered users.

“ARN is focusing on defining audio in Australia and as part of a recent strategic review," says ARN COO Michael Harvey.

AthletesVoice CEO Kerry McCabe says it makes sense to add Australia's unique fan platform to fully represent and serve both athletes and sports lovers.

“Over the past two-years we've built a platform that successfully brings athletes and brands together to win 'off the pitch'," says McCabe.

"We are proud of the voice we have given to athletes, helping them to realise their individual potential as a powerful media and marketing channel."

In August, HT&E  announced a 4% fall in half year revenue to $130.9 million in a "softer" radio market in Australia.

Net profit after tax from continuing operations and before exceptional items was up 34% to $18.1 million.
