Amazon’s advertising business grew 20% to $US12.77 billion in the June quarter, below expectations by market analysts of $13 billion.

The business is still small compared to Amazon’s retailing but is growing fast, putting it third in the world behind Google and Meta for digital advertising.

The giant online retailer announced the numbers when it released its latest quarterly results.

Net sales increased 10% to $148 billion in the second quarter.

“We’re continuing to make progress on a number of dimensions, but perhaps none more so than the continued reacceleration in AWS growth,” said CEO Andy Jassy.

Roy Morgan estimates 7.9 million Australians shop on Amazon.
