
Amazon’s advertising business in Australia lifted net sales 58% to $242.5 million in the year to December.
Data lodged with corporate regulator ASIC shows advertising services growing faster than overall net sales, which increased 22% to 3.8 billion over the same 12 months.
Subscription net sales came in at $480.4 million, up 38%.
Amazon listed its number of employees in Australia at 3,681.
Globally, the giant online retailer increased advertising revenue 18% to $ 17.288 billion in the December quarter.
Amazon now ranks third behind Google and Meta for digital advertising revenue with a global share of about 9%.
The company has extended advertising to its Amazon Prime streaming service.
Amazon is still building its advertising on streaming platform Prime Video which started displaying ads in Australia in July last year.
However, Amazon says it is “quite pleased” with the early progress.
