Alex Spurzem, who opened Samsung Ads in Australia, is spearheading an expansion into Southeast Asia through his new role as managing director, ANZ & SEA.

He will work closely with the on-the-ground team in Singapore as Samsung Ads pushes into Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

The expansion enables native advertising solutions across over ten million Samsung-powered Smart TVs. For the first time, native ad formats can now be integrated into the Samsung Smart TV experience.

“By bringing our native advertising solutions to market, brands and advertisers can now reach millions of households as soon as they turn their TV on,” says Spurzem, formerly of Google and before that PHD Australia.

It also allows marketers to leverage Samsung Ads’ first-party device data for greater targeting, measurability, and insights

“Connected TV adoption has exploded across Southeast Asia, pushing penetration towards or above 50 percent in many countries," he says.

"This has created a huge opportunity for brands and advertisers and the team is excited to drive our fast-growing business into new markets."

Spurzem says Samsung Ads always viewed Australia as a pathfinder market; a place to build ablueprint for other non-US and non-EU markets.

“The time is now right to play a role in Southeast Asia's burgeoning Connected TV industry - where adoption of CTV is pushing penetration towards or above 50% in many countries."

Samsung Ads Australia has grown recurring advertisers 10-fold, has more than 400 clients and is working with more than 30 content partners and distributors.
