Supermarket chain ALDI jumped into some weekend banter with fine arts company Sotheby's New York.

The art company last week sold a viral duct-taped banana artwork for $9.58 million.

In Good Different ALDI fashion, ALDI Australia poked fun of the auction with its own gallery-worthy produce.

The posts were shared to ALDI Australia’s socials, attracting thousands of likes, and hundreds of comments and shares.

"Sotheby's, let us know if you’re looking for more in season art, we’ve got a whole aisle ready for you at everyday low prices," the post read.

Some of the comments: "Best marketing team ever!", "Well done Aldi oz still having a sense of humour" and "Well played Aldi".
