Air New Zealand, known for its tightly written humorous advertising campaigns, has entered the advertising arena pitching its own goose against a contender from another airline.
“Gerry ya goose, you got the wrong airline!” says Air NZ in a tweet aimed at Gerry the Goose in an Emirates commercial.
Air NZ has had its own goose, Dave (voiced by actor Bryan Brown), for about six years.
However, Emirates has just launched its own travelling goose, Gerry, spruiking its new premium economy seats.
This didn’t go unnoticed in New Zealand.

Dave in NZ: “You’ll be pleased to know that I finally convinced my old mate Gerry to stop doing his own flying, like me.
“The only problem is he got the wrong airline.
"What are you doing on Emirates, Gerry? It was supposed to be Air New Zealand. You know, the ones with the delicious cuisine, Kiwi hospitality and those clever advertising campaigns.”
Emirates replied on Twitter: "Don't wing it, Dave! You definitely want to fly with Emirates for the long haul. And Dubai is a sweet spot for migratory stops. See you here!"

In the Emirates campaign storyline follows Gerry as he ruffles feathers by deciding to Fly Better aboard a comfortable and sophisticated Emirates Premium Economy cabin, while his migrating bird-brethren are in "fowl humour" after a long and tiring flight by wing.
Gerry is spotted smugly bypassing his counterparts as they fly outside the plane window, while he indulges in a delicious meal and reclines in his spacious seat to enjoy "The Goose, The Bad and The Ugly" movie on his 13.3” personal entertainment screen.
