A new clip advertising China Airlines, the national carrier of Taiwan, takes the unusual step of highlighting the darker consequences of going on holiday.

The ad, credited to Leo Burnett, Taiwan, comes with the hashtag #WhatTravelBringsYou.

In a series of scenes taking place when travellers return home, one woman discovers she's pregnant, a man discovers he'd had a tattoo, a woman cries when she realises how much she has spent shopping, and one lady finds it difficult to fit back into her clothes.

"When you were back from traveling, you would bring something with you… dirty clothes, cosmetics purchased for friends and a great deal of souvenirs," says the ad.

"However, you didn't notice that there were more profound things coming back with you ... sunburned skin you've got in Bangkok, blisters you've earned on the streets of Rome, and mobile phone that have been soaked in the hot spring of Hokkaido.

"Every time you travel, you always bring back something for your life, but you never notice.

"China Airlines invites you to discover what travel brings you."
