Shares in the media and advertising sector jumped on the ASX today in a surging market.
A short time ago, WPP AUNZ was up 17.4%, or more than five cents, to $0.370.
Media group Seven West Media added 18.5% to $0.16.
Nine Entertainment was 7.7% higher at $1.67 and Southern Cross almost 10% to $0.252.
The local market is ripping higher on the back of Wall St which hit new post COVID-19 highs on signs the economy is recovering faster than expected.
The S&P/ASX 200 index was up 2.75% to 6,163.90 points
Among other media players on the ASX, outdoor leader oOh!media was up 8.7% to $1.25 and marketing services group Ive added 7% to $1.29.
Falls included HT&E Ltd, the owner of ARN, which was down 4.5% to $1.48.
