For this month's AdNews Podcast, Wavemaker CEO Peter Vogel and Sydney trading director Philippa Noilea-Tani joined journalist Josh McDonnell to break down TV upfront season.
From all the glitz and glamour, right through to the announcements made by Nine, Ten and Seven, Vogel and Noilea-Tani shared their thoughts on what it meant for the future of TV.
Vogel said the shows overall painted a positive picture for the future of TV going into 2019, with each network modernising its approach to both advertisers and audiences.
Each network made a different point with their presentations, Vogel argued, with Nine building upon its strong foundations, Seven committing itself to data privacy and Ten heralding a new era.
A key takeaway from this year's events for Noilea-Tani was the lack of any new TV genre emerging. While there was heavier investment placed in Australian drama, networks held firm on the reality cooking, dating and renovation strategy, she said.
