The world's largest short film festival and Sydney institution, Tropfest has had an injection of talent from Adland this year, with two of the finalists coming from creative agencies.

Clemenger BBDO Melbourne senior account director Jack White took home the winning trophy with his dark comedy, Granny Smith which details a guy avoiding work because of a hangover, by faking his grandmother's death. The film was written with director Julian Lewis, with White starring in the film.

Clemenger BBDO Melbourne MD Paul McMillan said the agency were proud to have one of their team take out the award.

“It's clear that Jack's creative talents extend far beyond the walls of Clemenger, McMillan said.

“We look forward to seeing his next cinematic masterpiece.”

In addition, Saatchi & Saatchi senior business manager Michael Demosthenous had his film, Little Bondi, created by Stephen James King, screened at the festival, after making it into the finals. Only 15 films were selected to be screened out of more than 600 entries this year.

Demosthenous, who joined Saatchi & Saatchi in 2010, has been making short films since his time at university.
