Brand experience and innovation company Akcelo has been appointed by equity crowdfunding platform VentureCrowd to lead its marketing transformation plans.

Akcelo will drive VentureCrowd’s customer strategy, acquisition and nurturing programs as part of the transformation program, including the Salesforce Marketing Cloud integration to its business ecosystem.

VentureCrowd is a digital investment platform which gives investors access to curated investment opportunities in alternative assets with reduced deal complexity.

Rather than receiving a product or making a donation, the investor receives equity or ownership, in the company raising capital.

“We have democratised equity funding and as such need a marketing transformation program that reflects our business needs, brand and ultimately drives increased engagement from our investor community," VentureCrowd chief marketing officer Chris Lorang says.

"We selected Akcelo due to their collective experience in creating successful and complex marketing solutions. We’re delighted to be working with the team.”

VentureCrowd was founded in 2013 by former PwC venture capital partner, Steve Maarbani, and Australian venture capital firms Artesian Venture Partners.

It currently has 42,000 investors and raised more than $126 million funding for 63 deals.

“VentureCrowd is a new breed of financial service investment platform where customer experience is central to its business model," Akcelo CEO Aden Hepburn says.

"We’re excited to be working with them to help accelerate the business and lead the marketing transformation program.”

Akcelo launched earlier in the year with Hepburn joined by fellow VMLY&R alumni, the former regional head of strategy and innovation, Dave Di Veroli and Sydney office managing partner, Miles Scott.

Since then, the business has appointed Mark Berry, former regional design director at VMLY&R, as a partner and named Isaac Lai as strategy director and Bethany Ryan as business lead for founding client Lion.

Akcelo works with brands including Lion, TikTok, Primo Foods, HCF, Australian Wool and Stocklands.

It recently launched a campaign with SurfStitch which celebrates a ‘live offline, shop online’ mentality.
