Telstra has confirmed Adam Good has stepped in as interim head of Telstra’s Media unit as the telco’s former CMO and media boss Mark Buckman left permanently for London yesterday.

Buckman’s media and marketing role is being split in two with the hunt for his replacement in marketing still ongoing. It’s the same for Telstra’s media unit. Current head of digital media and content, Adam Good, and director of IPTV and Pay TV, Eric Kearley were two of Buckman’s senior reports on the media side but a Telstra spokesman said nothing had been decided yet from an international search.

Meanwhile, conjecture among equity analysts this week also had Foxtel delaying the launch of its IQ3 set top box launch until next year. “It’s been delayed again,” one said. “There are problems with the chipset. They’re trying to turn it into a Swiss Army knife to do everything and it’s causing a few problems.”

But Foxtel has rejected the speculation, saying nothing had changed from its earlier announcement that a planned launch was due by year’s end. “We still expect it to be available by the end of the year,” a Foxtel spokesman told AdNews.

Telstra and Foxtel are both looking to “triple play” bundles of broadband, phone and content as growth hot spots – Telstra will resell Foxtel’s IQ3 and Foxtel will resell Telstra’s phone and broadband products.
