A creative agency has brought to life a new skill move for FIFA 18 that has never been attempted before in real life.

'El Tornado', eventually executed with aplomb by virtual Cristiano Ronaldo, involves a dragback, flick and spinning volley on one seamless move. Too easy.

Ad agency A&E/DDB brilliantly shows how the new trick could become part of popular culture in a fun online video promoting the launch of EA Sports' iconic video game.

The trick is attempted by footballers, including Atletico Madrid's star striker Antoine Griezman, Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli, and even the NBA's James Harden, who provides his own spin on El Tornado.

The campaign had gained traction beyond EA Sports with brands, including Adidas and Coke, developing their own versions of El Tornado content.

“EA Sports FIFA is an iconic gaming and entertainment franchise. The chance to build a new skill into a game so embedded in culture is a rare opportunity. It’s been fantastic working with EA, the best footballing talent on the planet and the FIFA gaming community and we can’t wait to see El Tornado take the world by storm.” Adam&EveDDB chief executive Mat Goff says.

The campaign is launching with a longform online film supported by 90s, 30s, 15s, social story formats, and TV globally.
The shorter videos for social media was created by Tim Vance, Paul Knott, Rasmus Smith-Bech and Jonas Roth, and directed by Adam Berg through Smuggler.

AdNews is offering any reader a free copy of the magazine if they can execute the move on video and send it in.
