Unicef has joined with Panic London to create a short film that raises awareness about the huge number of young people fleeing violence and seeking asylum in Europe.
The number of children seeking asylum in the European Union has almost doubled in the past year, a fact Unicef UK have brought attention to in a new film that calls for the government to prioritise protecting children from violence.
Panic London’s two minute film depicts a typical British family playing in a park and the way their world could be turned upside down if they were living in a country affected by war or natural disaster. Each scene mirrors real stories documented by Unicef of children suffering from violence, exploitation and abuse.
The campaign, directed by Karen Cunningham through Thomas Thomas Films, is supported both online and offline through Unicef's celebrity ambassadors, including David Beckham, Tom Hiddleston and Michael Sheen. It features a cover of Soft Black Stars performed by Antony & the Johnsons.
In its first 24 hours the "World Upside Down Campaign" hit 1.5 million views over YouTube and Facebook.
