Cricket legend Ricky Ponting is teaming up with Aussie actress Nicky Whelan for the next part of CrownBet's marketing push.
Cricket legend Ricky Ponting has returned to CrownBet alongside Aussie actress Nicky Whelan as part of the second iteration of its new campaign from The Monkeys.
The campaign aims to associate CrownBet with a more premium experience in the wagering category.
Pontin and Whelan, in the 30-second spot, spruik the CrownBet rewards initiative, which offers free movie and football tickets.
CrownBet CMO Ed Owens previously told AdNews the brand leveraged Whelan in its marketing campaign to achieve cut through in a male-dominated category.
Pontin has been a long-term brand ambassador for CrownBet, appearing in its 2016 marketing push.
The betting category is one of the fastest growing advertising categories in Australia. CrownBet spent $99 million on marketing expenses last financial year – up from $80 million in FY16.
CrownBet’s marketing splurge includes its horse racing ads and events, its betting partnership with the AFL, and other sports sponsorships like the Supercars.
The Monkeys landed the CrownBet creative ticket in August this year, marking the agency's second Melbourne client.
