SodaStream says f*ck plastic bottles.
Sodastream has launched ‘Heavy Bubbles’ with Thor, The Mountain, Bjornson of Game of Throne, as the star of its satirical new campaign.
The collaboration, focused around a quirky piece of video content, sees The Mountain advertise his new brand, Heavy Bubbles – Sparkling Water That Makes you Sweat.
The GOT star advocates carrying heavy bottles as best practice for sweaty urban fitness exercise. He then announces the whole thing is an elaborate hoax saying: “Why would you believe such a thing. Plastic bottles are very bad for the planet”.
The campaign, which is live across Australian social platforms, has already been watched nearly 700,000 on YouTube. GOT fans have also begun making memes using the campaign imagery.
It was created and produced by global creative agency Allenby.co.il Concept House and the videos were directed by New York based, director Vania Heiman.
SodaStream CEO Daniel Birnbaum says: “We wanted to emphasise how ridiculous it is to continue to carry bottles home from the Supermarket, so we came up with this crazy, out-of-the box campaign. We know that this consumer habit is hard to break, so we brought Europe's Strongest Man to help us.”
The spot is part of a broader campaign which includes a behind the scenes video and a Facebook page.
