"It's the most versatile ingredient to have in your fridge."

Farmers Union has launched ‘tub-aware’, an initiative aimed at inspiring consumers to reuse their empty yogurt tubs.

The brand is encouraging shoppers to use the tub to store leftovers and reduce household food waste.

Farmers Union collaborated with Thinkerbell and Bega Group on a campaign which shows people how adding yogurt can turn boring leftovers into an exciting new dish.

Thinkerbell's head tinker Regina Stroombergen said a 1kg tub makes the perfect container for store leftovers because it’s strong, stackable and easy to clean.

“Given the current cost of living, reducing food waste is really important and just by adding Farmers Union yogurt you can easily make leftover roast lamb into souvlaki, potatoes into potato salad, stewed fruit into bircher and roast vegetables into soup,” she said.

“It’s the most versatile ingredient you can have in your fridge.”

The launch of Farmers Union’s ‘tub-aware’ pack follows its recent partnership with Saveful, a free app that helps Aussies get the most out of their weekly shop by providing recipe inspiration with what’s on hand.

Farmers Union’s tub-aware packs will be available in supermarkets until late September.
