Omaha Nebraska tackles high levels of STDs with shocking imagery....
The phrase 'gross out' has taken on a whole new level of repulsiveness thanks to Omaha, the Nebraska city which has launched a campaign to combat high levels of STDs among its inhabitants.
Omaha is famous for steaks, college baseball, and one of the highest rates of sexually transmitted diseases across the US. "We should probably do something about that," says a press release issued by the city.
The new billboards feature slogans: "His And Herpes," "Ignorance Is Blisters," and "What's The Warts That Could Happen?" all designed using imagery showing the effects of STDs on the body...yes, warts 'n' all. It's pretty confronting and stomach-turning to see the ads on a computer screen, let alone if they were emblazoned across a massive billboard.
This latest campaign follows a previous incarnation of ads which ran across the city advertising fake businesses such as: "Chlamydia Management Group" and "Estacion de Gonorrhea." More can be seen here:
