Asics urges fans to pull on the gold

Will this Asics campaign encourage fans to 'want it more'?

Asics has launched its new Wallabies kit and a media campaign for the 2016 international rugby season.

The TVCs feature a host of Wallabies, including Kurtley Beale, Will Skelton, Israel Folau and captain Stephen Moore, striving to take preparations to the another level.

The clip starts off with a coarse voiceover asking: "This is an open letter to any fan of Australian rugby, the next time you want the win, ask yourself this - how much do you want it?"

Wallabies then take us through brutal training regimes at ungodly hours, emphasising the lengths they will need to go to in order to beat the All Blacks.

The spots are pretty standard fare for sports apparel ads, dark and moody scenes with star players grunting through the sorts of training drills you don't get playing Sunday league. The tempo is constantly ascending until a climax where you are told to "pull on the gold".

As for the new jerseys - they are a marked improvement on the recent World Cup edition and draw similarities with the popular 2007 World Cup kits, minus the green patches on the sides and the white grip grid.

Depending on price tag, this reviewer might just want more.
