Y&R Brands will officially launch digital agency VML into the Australian market next week, 18 months after it first announced its foray into Australasia with an Auckland office.
An entry by full service digital agency VML into the Australian market has long been tipped, with its Auckland office opening its doors in 2010. VML global chief executive Jon Cook will be in Sydney next week to officially launch the agency with an event at Carriageworks.
It is unclear if VML will have offices in Sydney or Melbourne, or both. Y&R would not reveal if there are foundation clients or who will lead its management team. Details will be revealed next week.
VML's head office is based in Kansas in the US. The agency joined the WPP fold in 2001 and opened offices in Brazil and the Czech Republic last year. Its clients include Colgate Palmolive, Dell, Kellogg's, Microsoft and Xerox.
Last year, VML partner and director of innovation strategy Mike Lundgren spoke to AdNews about the need for Australian retailers to embrace digital as a way to lure consumers back from online competitors.
