Do you drink like a Dothraki or sip like a Stark? Sydney creative agency Common Ventures has created a range of Australian wines inspired by HBO's Game of Thrones.
The Wines of Westoros range of 12 white and red wines are named after the 12 houses in Game of Thrones. It was created by the agency as a fan project, which aimed to redesigned and modernise the identities of the Game of Thrones family crests and apply them to a workable product.
While unofficial and unconnected to the HBO drama for now, Damian Damjanovski founder of Common Ventures, says it is now pursuing the proper licensing and hopes to launch the range commercially ahead of the next season of Game of Thrones.
Damjanovski told AdNews: “If we want to create it we have to go through the correct channels, but HBO are extremely good at this and other products that have had a similar path, including a beer, have got an official licence. We don't anticipate it would be difficult but they have to protect their brand and copyright and we can't be seen to be harming that.
“We're hoping [to launch it] before the next season, the sooner the better really, but we'd like to ultimately like to see it happen before the next season so you can sit down to watch an episode and enjoy it.”
The range has been featured on news sites globally including Buzzfeed, Huffington Post, LA Times, Time and MTV.
The website for the range of Australian wines says: “A mind needs wine as a sword needs a whetstone. Whether it’s a bottle from beyond the wall or a case from the cellars of the Iron Bank, keep your mind fit for the death of summer with the lion’s share of vino. Have a wench fetch a goblet, reject all wedding invitations and settle down for a long, harsh winter. 12 houses. 12 temptations. Where does your loyalty lie?”
Common Ventures is a Surry Hills based creative advertising agency that launches side projects of its own alongside client briefs to take advantage of the “incredible talent” within the agency to create new products.
