Warc downgrades predictions for Aus ad growth

Marketing intelligence service Warc has predicted the Australian advertising market will grow 2.6% in 2013, downgrading its June forecast which suggested growth of 3.2%.

The company has suggested global advertising spend will increase 4% next year, down from its June forecast of 5.5%.

The forecast for the Australian market has been downgraded as earlier expectations for a rebound in the back end of 2012 have softened.

According to Warc, Russia and China will see the strongest growth in 2013, surging 14.6% and 12.5% respectively.

Warc data editor Suzy Young said: “The global ad market has been boosted this year by quadrennial events, namely the Olympics, the US presidential election and, to a lesser extent, Euro 2012.

“Next year will suffer by comparison, with advertisers having fewer incentives to spend when the underlying mood is generally one of caution.”
