DDB Sydney deputy executive creative director Simon Veksner has departed while The White Agency's Darwin Tomlinson joins as integrated deputy executive creative director.

DDB Group Sydney managing director, Chris Brown, said: “Due to the changing needs across our business, Simon Veksner has left to pursue other opportunities. Simon is a truly talented creative and has been responsible for some fantastic work during his time at DDB Group Sydney. We wish him all the best in his future career.”

Veksner joined DDB at the end of 2010, replacing departed creative director Adam Rose, who decamped to AJF Sydney. Veksner arrived from BBH London and had previously worked with Brown and executive creative director Dylan Harrison at DDB London.

Indirectly replacing Veksner will be The White Agency's executive creative director Darwin Tomlinson. However, Tomlinson's newly-created role as integrated deputy executive creative director willl be more digital-focused than Veksner's.

Harrison said: “The first thing I said to Darwin is that I wanted to work with a digital native, but didn't want a digital creative director. I want a partner in the creative department who builds ideas people find irresistible because they're interesting and relevant, before we talk about digital or technology.

“Having worked at such great places like Razorfish NYC, Wieden + Kennedy and The White Agency, Darwin gets that true integration starts with understanding what makes people tick.”

Tomlinson said: “This is an opportunity to be able to join a world-class agency that has true integrated creativity at the heart of the business. DDB Sydney are one of a few agencies at the leading edge within the network worldwide.”

DDB has also hired Barth Whalen as user experience specialist.
