Uniqlo pitches creative, hunts for local team

Japanese clothing retailer Uniqlo is pitching its creative account, AdNews understands.

The retailer, which opened its first store in Australia in Melbourne in April after hosting a pop-up store in January, currently works with VML on digital, but it is understood it has no agency of record in the region for creative.

Uniqlo has so far relied on imported creative and thought to be sounding out agencies in the city to work on localised work.

It plans to open a Sydney store later this year and will continue to increase its presence with additional stores.

It is thought that the company is currently compiling a long lst of agencies with pitching to commence in the next weeks.
