In a sudden and unexpected move, Ten's chief sales officer Mike Morrison has stepped down from his role, with a successor yet to be appointed.
Ten has released a statement regarding the departure, but has not revealed the reasons for Morrison's move.
He has left the company after only a few months in the top job.
Network Ten chief executive James Warburton will be responsible for the sales department until a replacement is found.
Meanwhile, national sales manager Kylie Rogers will leads the sales department on a day-to-day basis.
Morrison was one of the first major hires made by Warburton at Ten.
The network has been struggling in third place behind its major free-to-air rivals Seven and Nine for some time, in terms of both revenue and ratings.
At the beginning of the year, Seven was clear market leader, however Nine has since struck back with a number of ratings hits including The Voice.
However, many Ten programs have failed to fire, with the network's usual ratings hit MasterChef not reaching the highs of previous years.
The move is effective immediately.
